Senior communications professional

I have 20 years’ experience as a business writer and communications professional.

Since 2014, I have specialised in large, complex, high-stakes communications. Typically, I shape the approach as well as write the content.

My writing projects include:

Change programme handbook – created a flexible, interactive format so that one document worked for over 10,000 employees with hundreds of different jobs

Global compliance procedure and workbook – wrote the standard operating procedure and workbook which managers across the world used to deliver compliant social media campaigns in a heavily-regulated industry

Website for patients, doctors and the pharmaceutical industry – wrote a clinical trials website which served three audiences with greatly different needs

Global report with detailed research findings – edited the report so that the key messages shone through and the detailed data was easy to understand

National report recommending a major policy change – delivered the evidence required by different audiences by engaging with stories and examples, and persuading using facts and figures

Delivery strategy for a major infrastructure programme – re-wrote the drafts produced by technical experts so the Treasury and Department for Transport could understand the strategy easily and use it to make decisions efficiently

Books for parents of disabled children and teenagers –

• Guide for Newly-Diagnosed Parents – wrote the book which parents receive from the consultant in the diagnosis meeting which helps them to navigate the emotional and medical journey facing them
• Guide to Adolescence and Adulthood – edited and co-wrote the book that guides families through the challenges and opportunities of teenage life (For this book, I managed three other writers and much of the overall project.)

My presentations projects include:

Speaker programme for a major infrastructure programme – set up the training programme and co-delivered it, coached dozens of speakers and developed a resource library so all the speakers could raise their standards

Speeches for national conferences – wrote speeches with intriguing concepts for the CEO and directors which were highly rated by conference audiences

Speeches for employee conferences – wrote and edited speeches by the CEOs, directors and managers so they were able to speak with confidence and connect with their people

Television interviews and panels – wrote the introductions, questions and research papers for the in-house television programmes at three global banking conferences which were watched by thousands of people every day
