Presentation Skills for New Speakers

Deliver a professional presentation with style and impact

½ day – delivery only

1 day – preparation and delivery

Few things make people’s throats go dry like the news that they have to give a presentation. But it shouldn’t be like this.

After all, presentations are simply a way to share your thoughts and ideas with a group of people.

This course is specifically designed for beginners who need to give presentations to their clients, senior managers and colleagues. It directly addresses the anxieties of new speakers: what should I say? How can I make sure I don’t bore or baffle my audience? How can I control my nerves?  And what on earth should I do with my hands?

Participants will be able to:

  • prepare properly by thinking through what they want to say and how they are going to say it
  • manage their nerves before and during their presentation
  • connect with their audience so they can deliver their message effectively

Preparing their presentation

  • Clarifying their purpose and considering their audience
  • Structuring their message using tried-and-tested templates
  • Planning what they are going to say so they can capture and keep their audience’s attention
  • Designing slides that support, rather than compete with them
  • Transforming nerves into excitement which enhance their performance

Delivering their presentation

  • Getting on stage – making a confident start that gets their audience’s attention
  • Being on stage – managing their voice, gestures and eye contact
  • Leaving the stage – delivering a strong call to action and finishing with poise

Participants will deliver short presentations and receive feedback on their performances during the course.

Tailored version

This course can be adapted to the specific needs of your team so they can focus on their real projects and challenges. A reasonable design fee will be added to the cost of the course if you choose this option.
